This year the Mens Scarbro Caro Bowl competition has a very different feel about it. Without the defending champion West End, who decided not to return, and the relegation of Kohi, we now have two fresh mens teams, Cockle Bay and Herne Bay. Go the new bays boys!
Who will play for these teams and who will front under pressure are some of the questions around town. I have heard some names that are in the teams but am waiting for the official word. Stay tunned to CaroBowl.com for the low down as we get it!
Interesting. I can’t remember the last time a current CaroBowl team decided not to compete the following season. MAybe the West End boys discovered there’s a better bar up the hill at Herne Bay…;-)
Or maybe they’re just greedy when no sponsor could be found at West End ! Rats on a sinking ship probably have more loyalty !
2 weeks ago we emailed West End asking if they wished to post an official reply to the above comments. Also asking if we could use their email sent to Tennis Auckland that was also forwarded to all Caro Bowl clubs explaining the real reasons why they did not put in a team.
As we got no reply to that email all we can report is the information freely available in the public domain. They lost their key sponsor and also wish to focus on their 4 day tournament “The Westend Cup” that attracts NZ’s top players.
We look forward to attending that impressive Money Tournament and will list details on that event soon.
